<p>Greetings&hellip;.If you&rsquo;re currently considering a tour guide that knows every nook and cranny of Shanghai&hellip; I would highly recommend that you select Joy as your tour guide. Before the trip our main criteria for selecting a tour guide was that they have to be local, as we felt a local would have a more intimate knowledge of the city.&hellip;. Result:&nbsp; Joy didn&rsquo;t just meet our expectations&hellip;.but she exceeded them!&hellip;.Apart from taking us to all the obvious famous main land marks&hellip;..Joy also took us along a journey through Shanghai&rsquo;s back streets and hidden gems&hellip;.Food wise, I don&rsquo;t think we had a bad meal during our trip&hellip;.As our group (total: 8 of us) all regard food as very important&hellip;Joy obliged by bringing us to some amazing local authentic Shanghainese restaurants ( As we were desperate to try some local Shanghainese food)&hellip;Joy not only knows where all the&nbsp; good Shanghainese cuisine but also knew where all the best Northern or Southern Chinese Restaurants are in Shanghai&hellip;Importantly, apart from the food being delicious it was also very reasonably priced&hellip;.Our group interestingly enough&nbsp; all had northern Chinese backgrounds ( 5 of us from DongBei, 2 from Beijing and 1 from Inner Mongolia). Knowing this Joy made an effort to cater to all our needs by taking us to some authentic Northern Chinese restaurants...There was one DongBei restaurant in particular that I will never forget&hellip;.The food was absolutely mouthwatering&hellip;.Definitely worth the 45 minutes we had to wait to get a table&hellip;.One night we all wanted to eat Peking duck&hellip;and I must say it was one of the better Ducks I&rsquo;ve had, surprisingly authentic &hellip;.Comparable if not better than all the ducks I&rsquo;ve eaten in Beijing.</p> <p><br /> Besides Joy&rsquo;s impressive knowledge of Shanghai she was also a pleasure to travel with&hellip;.Joy was very easy going&hellip;had a good sense of humor, and even taught us some Shanghainese&hellip;.We returned the favor by teaching her some Beijinghua, and Dongbei Hua&hellip;..It was very much a rich cultural exchange&hellip;I was also surprised at Joy&rsquo;s proficiency in DongBei Hua&hellip;As it turns out she has some&nbsp; Dongbei friends in Shanghai, and also has a keen interest in DongBei Hua..Overall we all had a very good time&hellip;In future if we do go back to Shanghai, we will definitely be looking for Joy again.<br /> Places Joy took us: Shanghai, ancient water town Xitang ( Day Trip), Hangzhou ( Day Trip)</p> Read less

<p>Joy is a Fantastic tour guide! &nbsp;We had a group of 5 people traveling in China for the first time from the US. &nbsp;We wanted to get a private tour (ie, small group, personalized attention) and avoided the large, boring, impersonal tour groups. &nbsp;After searching online for several days, we found Joy&#39;s bio to be interesting. &nbsp;She&#39;s well-travelled, young, yet very knowledgeable. &nbsp;Her English was also excellent. &nbsp;After reviewing the itinerary that she recommended, we agreed to reserve an entire day&#39;s tour of Shanghai with a private van and driver. &nbsp;Having a driver is a great idea because you will save time not having to find parking! &nbsp;</p> <p>We ended up going to the following locations:</p> <p>+Yuyuan Garden</p> <p>+Nanjing East Road</p> <p>+The Bund</p> <p>+Tian&nbsp;Zi Fang</p> <p>+Several shopping sites along the way</p> <p>Last minute, my group and I wanted to get custom suits and shirts made. &nbsp;Joy made a few phone calls and found us a popular suit place. &nbsp;Wow, were we impressed with the craftsmanship and speed of this place. &nbsp;Had 1 fitting at the store and another at the hotel. &nbsp;No extra alterations needed. &nbsp;Incredible! &nbsp;Ask her about this place when you go. &nbsp;</p> <p>As far as the tour was concerned, Joy was very cool and accommodating to our short time frame. &nbsp;At the same time, we never felt rushed. &nbsp;She gave us all the historical tidbits of each site and took us to a great noodle place on Nanjing&nbsp;East Road. &nbsp;All in all, everyone had a great time.</p> <p>A couple of days after our Shanghai tour, our group decided to travel to Beijing. &nbsp;We called Joy for advice and she helped our group with travel plans to Beijing. &nbsp;She recommended us to a tour guide friend in Beijing who also gave us a great tour of the city. &nbsp;We really appreciated Joy&#39;s helpfulness.</p> <p>For your next trip to China, I highly recommend Joy to be your tour guide.</p> <p>Cheers!</p> <p>-------------</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> Read less
