You can apply to the Chinese embassy or consulate in your country or you can have a travel agency apply for you.
Who Needs a Visa?
A visa is required to enter China from abroad. This includes entering from Hong Kong or Macao.
Everybody traveling in China needs a visa except for:
-Nationals of Japan, Singapore or Brunei who are staying for 15 days or less.
-Transit passengers. Except for British and American citizens, who always require a visa.

Duration
The duration of stay granted may vary. It is possible to extend your duration of stay while you are in China. Single and double entry visas are usually valid for 3 months from the date of issue.

What to Bring when Applying
- Passport.
o Must have one blank page. Endorsement and amendments pages do not count.
o Passport must be valid for at least 6 months if you are getting a singly or double entry visa. Passport must be valid for at least 9 months if you are getting a multiple entry visa.
- Passport-size photos.
- Completed application form.
- The money for your fee. Fees may vary between countries.
