Mail and Shipping

Some quick tips about shipping from China:

- Sending mail from or to China is quite reliable.
- Post offices are open 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.
- Large hotels often have postal services as well.
- Courier services such as FedEx, DHL, UPS and TNT also operate in China.
- China Post and it’s courier service EMS offer good rates.
- If the address fields are not marked on the envelope use the standard convention in China:
"Country
Province, City
Zip/Postal Code
Street Number
Name"
- You can use English to write the address but it would be useful to have the name of your country written in Chinese Characters as well.
- Stamps are not sticky on the back. Instead, glue is smeared on the back of the stamp with a brush.

Receiving Mail

Most main post offices have a poste restante service.   The charge should be between 1 and 3 yuan per item.  Take your passport with you when you go to collect your mail.
