Access for people with physical disabilities

It would be very hard for people with physical disabilities to travel in China without help.

Subways and train stations often require you to walk up and down long staircases. Also, buses and long-distance trains most likely will not have wheel chair access.

If you need information from a hotel or restaurant about their access for people with physical disabilities ask them specific questions.  Do not take anything for granted.

It is standard for sidewalks in cities to have strips with raised bumps that are meant to help people with vision disabilities navigate.  It is unfortunate that these are rarely maintained.  The strips might lead straight into a pole or a pile of garbage.
