The south gate of yinchuan old town is the only one of the six ancient towers in yinchuan ancient city, which is the only one. The local custom is called the south gate building. It has demolished the walls on both sides of the south gate building and opened the south gate square. On both sides of the gate, the balcony was built, and many trees and flowers were planted in the north and south.

Nanmen square in front of the south gate, for a long period of time, is the place for the major celebrations in yinchuan. But with the high-speed development of yinchuan city, near the south gate is already a high-rise buildings, the floor overlooking effect has disappeared, all kinds of gatherings, activities also moved to the modernization of the people's square.
